POSITION

Registered School Nurse

DEPARTMENT:

Rudyard Area Schools-School Wellness Program

SCHEDULE:

7.5 hours per day during the school calendar year – 185 days

SALARY:

$34/hour

Requirements:

·         Must be licensed, registered nurse in the State of Michigan

·         Experience working with adolescents required

·         Experience working in a school preferred

·         MUST WANT TO WORK WITH STUDENTS AND PRESENT A WARM AND WELCOMING DEMEANOR WITH ALL PATIENTS

Purpose:
Provides limited clinical services under the direction of a medical director.  Provides health education for students and staff.  Referrals as needed with follow-up.  Co-teach prevention lessons with teachers.  Reports to Program Director regarding programmatic issues.
 
Main Objectives for Nurse:

·        Work under the supervision of the Medical Director and within the approved policies and

procedures of the School Wellness Center. 

·         Demonstrate knowledge and commitment to the mission and objectives of the Wellness Center

·         Demonstrates compassion, caring and sensitivity to patients and others in all daily encounters

·         Practices within scope of license/certification

·         Advocates for adolescent health through verbal and non-verbal communication

·         Maintains patient confidentiality

·       Maintains a professional working relationship with patients, families, staff members,

school personnel, ancillary services, and other providers

·        Devises, implements, and evaluates plans of care using sound clinical judgment based

on assessment of the clients physical, psychological, emotional, societal and environment needs

·         Provides continuity of care

·         Provide appropriate, timely, accurate and complete medical record entries

·         Provide adequate and appropriate transfer of information when clients are transferred

to another health care provider

·        Demonstrates ability to convey information to a parent and follow-up with a parent

in a manner that will improve the relationship between the student and parent

·        Demonstrates the ability to convey medical and technical information in a manner

that is understandable to both the student and the parent/guardian

·         Demonstrates sensitivity to the developmental and emotional needs and problems of the student

·         Demonstrates ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

·         Utilizes the resources of the community in the surrounding areas

·        Demonstrates evidence of continuing professional growth by involvement in continuing

education, peer review, quality assurance, and the review of policies and procedures

·        Attends community advisory meetings, center meetings, staff meetings, and other

meetings as needed and feasible

·        Provides health education and promotion services to clients, their families and staff

·         Ensure that all clinic scheduling is adequate and consistent

·         Performs other duties and functions as needed
